Come and see us in the Babcock LDP marquee on Avenue K

Today was the first of three days that the specially convened Media Team from South Dartmoor Community College is spending at the Devon County Show on the Babcock LDP stand.  The six Year 9 students in the team are working in three production groups,  each making different video reports of the day.

The first group, Claire and Finn, were part of the Royal Press Team covering the visit of HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, her third time at the County's largest annual event. The Duchess first visited the Devon County Show in 2005 shortly after her marriage to Prince Charles,  followed by a second visit as the president of the Devon County Agricultural Association in 2008. Claire and Finn filmed HRH officially opening the 118th Devon County Show and followed her as she visited the charity the show is supporting this year,  Dream-a-way', which provides day trips and holidays for people living in Devon, Cornwall and the Scilly Isles who have physical and learning difficulties.

Then the second group, Conor and Betsy,  filmed a number of the day's equestrian events and interviewed participants and spectators. They learnt a lot about preparation for shows and how much work goes into making these events happen and will be filming more reports about horses during the next two days.  Conor and Betsy also made a second video about Trade Stands, which included an interview with a student from South Dartmoor Community College working in the rabbit tent!.

Finally group three,Tilly and Erin,  made a montage of clips of their first impressions of the show which included food, animals and crafts. Additionally they made a second video where they interviewed the general public  about their impressions of the show, including a member of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum Trust and stall holders…. also including a clip of Erin being rather eccentric…

The whole team have all agreed that they thoroughly enjoyed the first day of the show and are very much looking forward to the next few days , even if they did get slightly lost on a number of occasions!

Tomorrow the team plan to make videos about cattle, horses, vehicles, clay shooting and more! Due to the huge number of exhibits and huge variety of events at the show they will be trying to get out as many videos as possible each day, for as wide an audience as possible.
